Estate Sale Finds - Rice

I was prepping a vintage wedding dress for a shoot and was amused to find a single grain of rice in between the mesh lace and the bodice of the dress - probably stuck there since the 50s when someone first threw rice at a happy couple running down some church steps.

I loved these screenprinted wedding invites showing an illustrated wooded dance party with bride and groom as a wild pair:

Vintage Inspired - Oscar de la Renta Fall 2012

I was perusing some of the Oscar de la Renta Fall 2012 photos and was surprised that they didn't even try to pretend that they weren't all about the 60's. Beaded shift dresses, wide cowl necks, and that hair! It is straight off of Brigitte Bardot's head.

I got a kick out of this cabinet, disguised as a vintage television:

Vintage Inspiration - Moonrise Kingdom

I saw the lovely Moonrise Kingdom last week and was delighted to find it full of my favorite things - peter pan collars, vintage luggage and other old treasures, and animal masks.

In honor of Suzy Bishop, I put together a little vintage inspiration found on Etsy:

Sunnyside Up Dress | Toy Binoculars | Sunday Shoes | Yellow vintage luggage | portable vintage record player | Beetle earrings | Raven Mask | blue eyeshadow | Boy Scouts to the Rescue book | Vintage Red Plaid School Bag

Estate Sale Finds - Vintage Credit Card / Charge Card

How fun are these old vintage charge cards I found at an estate sale the other day? They are slightly smaller than the credit cards we're used to now, and there is no magnetic strip across the back (embossers were used to imprint the raised information on the plastic cards onto a duplicate sales slip instead). They seem a little more stylin' than our current credit cards for some reason.

Check out some of the other pretty vintage credit/charge cards pictured at the Department Store Museum.
