Vintage Destination: Pretty Parlor

We recently stumbled on the prettiest, pinkyest, jewel box of a vintage shop in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle.  When you walk in to Pretty Parlor you're greeted by an overload of awesome girly vintage: colorful crinolines hanging from the ceiling, your favorite '80s children toys, and carefully assorted and color-coordinated vintage beauties.  $25-$85 will score you a pristine vintage dress, and make sure to check out the cat collection (live and figurines).

The people at Pretty Parlor are so nice and helpful, and all about helping the vintage scene in the neighborhood. We love the vintage shopping map they put together (and then scanned on the spot so we could post about it).  Definitely a must-see in the Seattle vintage scene.

Estate Sale Finds: Darn-it Box

I thought this "darn-it" box was a cute idea. I'm always mending holes and buttons and such while watching TV, and having a handy little box of portable essentials to aid the process is clever.

Designers to Know: Dear Creatures Fall 2012

Welp. They've done it again. I always love Dear Creatures, but had to share a few gems from their Fall 2012 Lookbook because, duh, check out the ears:

Those jackets made my heart beat a little faster, no lie.

Estate Sale Finds: Fad of the Month Club

I was digging around the garage of an estate sale, and stumbled upon an entire box full of mailers from a club I think I would have liked to be a part of - the Fad of the Month Club, published by the National Handcraft Society. Members of the Club received a new DIY craft every month, delivered straight to their door. It looks like the stylish wrapping and cute labels on the package were in better taste than the slightly tacky crafts inside (like the weird styrofoam lamb?) but I can totally get behind the idea of a new crafty project surprise being mailed to you monhtly:
Sadly, this member of the Fad of the Month Club seemed to be a little more excited about the idea of doing crafts than actually making them - most of her kits seemed barely touched.

Vintage Destination: Seattle's Georgetown Trailer Park Flea Market

There are a ton of great vintage spots in Seattle, but this spot in the Georgetown neighborhood may be the quirkiest.  It's a trailer park AND a flea market.  There's only a few shops, but the prices are good and there are treasures to be found.  I picked up hobnail salt and pepper shakers for $5.  Definitely worth the trek, and hey, if you're lucky you'll get invited to the kid's birthday bbq that seem to be a regular occurrence.

Vintage Renewal - Modern Library Storage

The folks at Able + Baker Design had a genius idea - stick the spines of vintage books onto boxes to hide your clutter cleanly on the shelf. Love this idea:
