Designers to Know: Dear Creatures Fall 2012

Welp. They've done it again. I always love Dear Creatures, but had to share a few gems from their Fall 2012 Lookbook because, duh, check out the ears:

Those jackets made my heart beat a little faster, no lie.

Designer to Know: Hucklebones

Hucklebones, UK. I know this is a kid's clothing line out of London, but sheesh - if they made these things in big people sizes, I'd wear every one of these outfits. The colors are perfect and the designs all vintage inspired without feeling overdone. That first white blouse is to die for...

Check out the full lookbook here.

Designers to Know: Lauren Moffatt

I stumbled upon the wonderful Lauren Moffatt when I was researching new capes (my weakness!) and had to share some of her outerwear, since we are heading into Fall. She knows her way around contrasting piping, peter pan collars, bold buttons and sharp silhouettes.

Designer - Tina Frey

Always a fan of peter pan collars, and was delighted when I stumbled upon designer Tina Frey's 2010 tailor collection:

There is something nice about the stiffness of these "collars" instead of the expected fabric versions.

Dear Creatures: Fall 2010

I know I blog about Dear Creatures all the time, but they just debuted their Fall line. I pretty much want to wear everything they make. Every time.

And they have a men's line now too, which means I shall be dressing my beau come Fall.

Designers to Know: maryy

I love sewing. I love vintage. Which means I love BurdaStyle, and ESPECIALLY pretty much every sewing project this girl maryy creates and posts. Capes. Peter pan collars. Scallops. Every one of them has gone into my "inspiration" folder, even if just for photography tips.

Check er out:

Designers to Know: Les Queues de Sardines

Les Queues de Sardines, makers of some of the most creative and fabulous tights, have also got a few animal masks running around in their latest limited edition legwear.

These are MONSTER LEGS, with monster faces to match:

And these are just a few other favorites from past and present collections:

Le sigh. I LOVE tights.

RIP: Lee Alexander McQueen

A small "animalhead" tribute to a truly creative mind. His fashion designs always ruffled our feathers.

Designer - Alexa Chung

I know, I know. Alexa Chung is, like, totally on everybody's "style inspiration" board and keeps getting called an "it" girl on all the blogs and gets photos posted in every issue of Teen Vogue, which means I REALLY want to dislike whatever it she is doing and write it all off as trendy overhype.

BUT. I must admit, she does have this really effortless casual style (see above), so it is hard to not get excited when the description of her new collaboration with Madewell (coming this Fall, and available at ShopBop) reads like this:

"Expect high-waisted pants and jeans, velvet dresses with Peter Pan collars, and a coat based on a vintage children’s one she found that originally came from Harrods. There will be nothing that nods to the eighties or nineties, because she’s not into either decade. 'I want to bring back forties tea dresses, sixties mod dresses. . . . I want to bring cute back.'" (from Vogue)

I guess I should be glad that if I ever ask myself "WWACW?", it will be easy to head to Madewell and find out.

Dear Creatures: Spring 2010

Okay. You guys are going to think we have stock in Dear Creatures the way I keep blogging about them, but the Spring Lookbook is just too great to not share. I almost forget to look too hard at the clothing because the styling is so pretty.

But then I remember to look at the clothing, and want to buy one of everything! Suspenders, high-waists, peter pan collars, sailor necklines and rompers ... all my favorite vintage details done up all clean and modern!

Designer - Dahl by Alison Kelly

So, maybe you remember Alison, from Project Runway Season 3? The cutest blonde designer ever that my roommate and I both had huge girl crushes on?

(She got kicked out pretty early on for sending models down the runway with Minnie Mouse hair bows. Which, I have noticed on the runway since, and on heads like Lady GaGa and Paris Hilton. So. She was just too fashion forward, and totally robbed, in my opinion)

Anyway. Alison just opened an etsy shop!

I'm especially a fan of this simple black high-waisted skirt. I feel like it is something I would wear all the time.

DIY: Vena Cava Tee Shirt Dress

Confession time. So... maybe I read Teen Vogue. And maybe I still can't afford half of the clothing that the models wear (which means I am not sure how teens are supposed to afford it either). But, I am a fan of the designer DIY projects that they have each issue, since "practically free" is the only thing that fits into my budget these days. Vena Cava's project a few issues back is a perfect end-of-summer style that anyone can create, with a comfy tee shirt and a simple skirt sewn on the bottom.

I picked up some floral fabric at the thrift store the other day and have a v-neck I'm going to attach it to over the weekend!
